Working with me is straightforward. Here’s how the process typically works:
- Contact / Project assessment – When you contact me initially, we'll discuss your project, timeframe, budget, and overall expectations.
- Agreement – Before any work begins, we’ll generate a written agreement describing the terms of our working relationship, each party’s responsibilities, and approximate project timetable, fees, and payment schedule. I will quote a flat fee for the project, usually based on a percentage of your budget, scope of work involved, and how much time and effort, if any, you plan to contribute to your project.
- Project management – Depending on your needs and what we agree, I can help provide budgets and schedules, qualify and help you manage sub-contractors, order materials, and/or visit the worksite as needed to verify and inspect completed work. I will also confirm licensing, bonding, and insurance coverage of everyone who works on your project.
No checks are written to sub-contractors until their work is inspected and approved. Final walk-through with the building inspector gets you a legally compliant, quality-assured project that will add value to your investment and enjoyment to your life.
